Honor Cords

Honor Cord Qualification & Validation

Validation

Honor Cords may only be worn by graduates whose IOWA Test scores have been validated by the Idaho Coalition of Home Educators (ICHE).

Qualifications for Gold Honor Cords:

Gold honor cords are awarded to 9th to 12th grade students who have tested through ICHE and who have achieved a complete composite score of 80th percentile. Those students are nominated to Who’s Who.

Qualifications for White Honor Cords:

White honor cords are awarded to 9th to 12th grade students who have tested through ICHE and who have achieved a complete composite score of 90th percentile. Those students are nominated to Who’s Who, are designated Summa Cum Laude Scholars, and are entitled to wear both gold and white honor cords. Graduates who qualify for white honor cords usually wear both gold and white cords since they qualify for both. Please plan accordingly when ordering.

Testing Registration

ICHE will extend the testing registration deadline to Dec. 1, 2017 for Idaho State Homeschool Graduation participating graduates who would like to take the test in March to try and earn honor cord standing. Testing is offered at 16 sites throughout the state.

The median complete composite test scores of ICHE-tested students is typically the 78-84th percentile. Email registrations@iche-idaho.org for information and to complete your registration and payment.

All Idaho State Homeschool Graduation graduates applying for honor cords will have their names submitted to ICHE. Those whose scores have been validated will have their names returned to CHOIS with the color of cord(s) designated. CHOIS will not receive actual test scores which are confidential. Each qualifying graduate’s name will appear in the ceremony program list of Summa Cum Laude and/or Who’s Who graduates.

Ordering Cords

If you know that your student has qualified for honor cords, you may order them at the time of registration. If your graduate is testing in March and hoping to be eligible for honor cords, please wait to order cords until after results are back.
